Wind and Water

Wind and Water

Fire froze
Its ardor vanished
Flames banished
Water rose
To towering tsunami
Arched angel
Ripe so
Ready
For the fall.
But the wave
Never crashed
On the shore..
Because the wind
Wouldn't leave
Playing with her hair
The liquid tendrils
Of her passion...
Watching the shore
Recede in fear
Of her ferocious
Beauty
She froze
In mid air
Cradled in the arms
Of the wind...
A tempestuous sigh
Air after all
Is buoyant
But
Water must fall...

A friend told me
How nature
Vast bodies of waters
And granite mountains
And the vast heavens above
Bear witness...

Human conspiracy
To be treacherous
Is vain...
For air must float on aether
and water
Must flow on earth....

Meeting is
Tsunami.

Reviled

Reviled

Fire burns...
Slow inside.
Forcing forging
Forming
Foaming Water to flow.

Fire burns this heart of mine
To cinders
Water cleans.

You say I waste myself
On writing
For nobody will read
What is like
But a press
Of a hasty button?
I say that I weed
The garden
of my heart
Flowers fall in floral heaps
A fleeting temple
For you to trample
Stamp out
My blaze...
But I won't
Let ashes harden
Water of love
Swirling
In poesy
baptizes it anew.
What has a like
Or its absence
Got to do
With me
Or you?
One can only
Sing
For the song's release
And if you should chance to hear it
I hopefrom my heart
It made you dance.

A fire fills my soul
Uplifting
With phoenix wings
Tears are yesterday's film
Of your
Denigration
On my being.

I'm fire and water...
Do not be alarmed...
In ascent of air
I breathe survival's glory
In earth's surrender
My passivity
Finds triumphant
Submission.

Aye Aye..Gay We're

Aye....Gay We Are

This a gay nation
Floating helplessly heavy boats
Loaded with dreams
Laden with too many
passengers
Ferryboats
On rivers turgid...
Slick with disappointment
Disillusion
Disaster.

The man who got spiked
Staff reduction
The multinational way
To square up losses
And makeover
Golden bonuses
For CEOs must live
while widows and housewives weep...
LA dolce vita

Showering fake confetti
Pink slips of rejection
that festoon park benches
Unemployed visions
Of sudden riches
Gaily trampled
By the defecating dog...

Today
Both are strays.

One sleeps on the bench
The other below.
The canine bares teeth in subconcious hunger
games
Kicked and downtrodden...

The human cries out in gay dreams
Of becoming
A slum dog millionaire
Partaking too
At the feast
With no reckoning...

Yes he's gay as the mad hatter
In May
Recalling honeymoon days on
This self same park bench
Regaling his bride
With starry visions..
Starry icicles chisel sharp points of pain
Down the valley of dreams.

Here in India
Men hold hands
Walk down crazy paths
Paved with dreams
Caring sharing
Till gravel swallows
Confidences
And the gaping graves
Unman them.

Soul brothers... Friends...
Gay...
Not as a community
But in a communion
Knowing the path
Is rough
Gaping graves
Manholes and potholes
Life's lottery littered
With Ifs and buts
And so moment's comfort gained
Before the unendurable
End.

Rain

Rain

Weekend long wet and windy
We have played endless games
Cards and carrom...chess..
Bluff..checkmate.

You've defeated me easy suave
Crafty tormentor
Till in shameful surrender
I am encircled

Still we turn off the lights
To play hide and seek
Darkroom dreams long drawn tease
Poker faced in pursuit of pleasure
Mission impossible jarring the air
A spur.

Something's off.
Moon bathing in blue velvet
My pinnacles of thrilling rapture
Delight oozes on the terrace.
I just want to be your capture
Conquered delicious.
Why do you
Close my pea black eyes
And harden your understanding
Of my rain...

I don't want this kiss
I want to watch rain fall
endlessly
Caressing and teasing
Trading breathless
Silent rainchecks with the breeze.

Pain and passion
We'll do this again
And again.

Ecstatic

Ecstatic

Right now
Fight now
Get it together
Want to
Drive
Don't be constrained
Needs and demands
Bleed dry
Don't petrify
Into this
Non living
Sentience.

Don't try to feign ignorance
Don't make out you don't know
Do you want to be uselessly ornamental
Do you want to just prettify
Do you want to just live
Or Do you want
A life?

The sun is melting
Glorious colors
Flooding nooks and crevices
Shutters glow hot and heavy
Laser fingers forage
Light sneaks in
Through presumptuous grills
Flung open
Shattered
Scattered assumptions
Infinite arches
Infinite Yous
Doorways to
Distant divinity
An instant
Affinity.

I'm a traveller blindfolded
Trussed gagged
My senses delusional
Indomitable
light
Seeks me out
Catapults my
Dissolved essence into
Spatio temporal
Quadrants receding.

I
Identify
Identity
Entity amidst
Nonentity.

Stars are milestones
Relative to our need
To traverse distance
Measure eternity
An immensity
Of nonsense
Highways wind up
The cosmic staircase
Of evolution.

Floors shiver quiver...
Stable illusions
The only ground
Beneath feet
In ascension..
Catch the flow
The ascending whorl....
The golden ratio of every
Patterned whirl...
The roof dissolves.

The floor?
Low as you
Stoop to conquer....
Bottomless pits
For your feats
Of valor.

The roof.....is ever
Proof of exaltation
Thrilling journey that remains.

Trapped current
Static charge
Trembling floors
Cowardice caving in
Stupefying descent
Like trapped ivy
On your dormant castle walls...

Peeping in persistently through
Shutters
Grime and paint peeling off
In disbelief...
Yes ogre...
My mind too
Matters....

I'm only
a prisoner of your device
A damsel in distress
In the castle of No confidence
I surmise.

No longer.

Rude graffiti
Face off
I take off my mask

No hiding behind silicon
No biding time in acute grains of sand...
No safe sanctuary or barred
Prison.

Mind a journey...quest
celestial of stellar years
Aspirational fount of mighty
Fire.

An energy ball tumbling
Rolling on celestial floors
Never settling...
Setting the universe
Into motion.

Flickering lights unblinkered
Windows
My sassy spaceship journeys
Silver piercing
Womb of darkness.

This brief enterprise
This intense agony
This agonizing ecstasy
Dream on sense organs
Touchy feely
Life.

The chords of freedom
Release and expand
From within the boundaries.

Eclectic Thoughts

I wonder about odd eclectic things...like accepted standards and norms of behavior automatically being glorified even deified.
For example we live in a patriarchal society and for the most part even our liberated western brethren.
So wives take the surnames of their husbands.
Recently watched a video of Deepika Padukone....part of the voiceover claimed...taking a man's surname was merely ornamental...and could be easily removed but not a woman's love...a message of course to value her not for her symbolic status quo in your life but for her intrinsic worth...oh I agree Deepika...that wearing or not wearing it isn't either a symbol of respect or disrespect to her husband.
and yes....it can be an ornament adorning a woman who wears it fondly with pride and yes it can be taken off ...
But not because its an ornament, and she wants to wear er..a fresh set of jewelry...
I think surnames are legally advisable not as identity tags...not as dog tags of possession but to claim property rights... Inheritance....think about how confusing it would be for widows destitute orphans sick aged parents etc...otherwise. They are convenient delineators of lineage.
So I would go one step further...Deepika...Not gender preference ...nor ornamentation....Sheer intelligence dictates we need to trim the confusion... and streamline our lives  for a smooth flow.
We cannot always keep matriarchal and patriarchal tags in the hyphenated fashion people often do...It's cumbersome illogical too...What do children of Albert Barton-Smith and Joanna Blakeley-Jones call themselves? X Y or Z Barton-Smith-Blakely-Jones?
Oh aren't you disrespectful of your mom's side by putting her surname in the end?
Yes Ha ha! Riddikulus!!! You're right....
Woman's rights.... Patriarchy...these are fine terms but common sense should prevail.
I am not property. I am a woman. I don't belong to my husband. He doesn't belong to me....We belong to each other.
To be politically correct let's say we relate to each other. It's a merger not acquisition.
I wouldn't disrespect my spouse and see his surname as an ornament that I wear for decoration.
I wouldn't let my husband rob me of my roots and lineage either by laying down the law...that I have to take his name or else.
It's no honor and no frippery.
We attach too much emotional baggage invest a lot of nonsensical religious moral sentiments to acts performed to prevent data overload and preserve sanity.
Life snickers at our stupidity and goes on...Every human man or woman carries the matriarchal proof of lineage in mitochondrial DNA.
Every man carries the unique Y chromosome from his father.
And so to end... Let a man and woman fall in love and choose one of their surnames to adopt and carry forward from there without pride without shame.
Life goes on...laughing and loving us.
We should smile too and stop taking ourselves so seriously.

Next...to be contd...etc

Poetry Challenge... Starry Eyed

Poetry Challenge... Using Encroach...Platitude...Fodder.

When I was very young very happy
Totally cool about being unsure
Totally unbreakably brave

You came into my life.
And I didn't see you.

All the while we danced with friends
You crouched down on the floor
Hungry hooded eyes surveying prey...
I encroached unaware
upon your grey guarded
lust with my innocence on display
In a little red dress.

Crimson Fodder bleeding for your gunsight
So delectably
Within range.

And you could've done everything
I was yours without a touch
And you couldn't do anything
My innocence came in between
Us.

Time after time...
Provocative seductive hesitant lost
In my dreaming love life
Staying up pondering over your calls.
No one else could ever embrace my soul
And wrap it around his little finger.

We utter platitudes how broken hearts
Heal with time.
Hearts don't know how to break
They stretch and stretch swollen with
Love stolen out
Of memories
In the night air
The songs...
The words...
The dancing that was
More beautiful than any
Lovemaking
The love that won out in the end

So long Hunter
You earned my love
Not as a notch upon Orion's studded belt.
I'm still starry eyed
Because you let me leave
So innocent.
